Boy is Bantam AA a tough time. With all the boys able to go play highschool JV the amount of kids gets thin. My sons team from last year cannot field a Little Ceasers team this year. Just not enough talent to play at that level. I suppose that he could of tried out for another local org but I beleive that team is mostly set with the exception of a few spots. And of those few spots a few of the best kids that were able to play for my sons team this year will be heading there. I wish my sons school had a J.V. team for high school. So looks like we will be playing back in the buckeye league this year in the Bantam AA divison. Anyone else running into this problem with kids splintering off to play highschool?

yeah, it starts with 2nd yr Bantams, gets alot worse at midgets. You'll notice most leagues have far fewer teams at midget level. It's the age where players have to make big decisions: is hockey going to be a serious thing (am I good enough to play juniors/college) taking into account all the travel, weekends away, etc? or do they want to have more a social life with school friends, being able to play for the school team in front of friends, etc.

One has to do one's homework at tryout time and try to guage the level of interest in teams and try to get your player in the best spot for them as their options change.

In our area (Findlay OH) it hits Midgets more than Bantams. I think there are only a couple of Bantams (maybe 3) in the 9th grade. Most of our Bantam AA players will be 8th graders.

On a side note - Commish - it will be nice to have a second Buckeye Bantam AA team in NW Ohio. Some of the teams can make a weekend of it now. 2 in Findlay and 2 in Sylvania. With Fort Wayne, Findlay and Sylvania we have the start of a northern division. How do we convince BG to join?

Hopefully we will be able to field a team. If anyone knows of any decent 92's that want to play we will be having one more final tryout.
