On the topic of stretching the play out over 3 days...
Many of the Boys Silver Sticks regional tourneys do that. Typically
it is because they cannot get enough simultaneous ice.
At the PB, we only wish we had our games spread out more. Our
first game is 1:15 on Tuesday and our 4th game will complete by 4:00 PM on Wednesday. That is 4 games in 27 hours. And we
are only carrying 13 or 14 skaters.
The U14 AA division is always a mess, with the last teams playing their pool games
within 4 hours of their quarter finals. Usually that team loses.
If our team were to make it (that is a BIG if), we
would have an advantage of having over 24 hours off to rest.
Nationals is arranged to play 1 game per day during pool
play with the quarter and semi finals on a subsequent day with the finals on the 5th day. Probably a good arrangement from
the equality of rest perspective, but it can make for a long tourney, if you are not in the running. Of course there are
always plenty of things to do.
Been there, done that. Went somewhere else and did it again.
