First off, IMHO, If you make a committment, you keep it. Why anyone is worried about a 6-7 year old playing travel is beyond me. How much do these kids really listen and learn from a coach. These kids learn by watching other kids, and by having fun. Let your kids try lots of different sports in small increments in the 6-10 yo age group, most will gravitate towards the ones they are stronger in. Yes, I do believe when you get to the peewee and Bantam levels if you want to improve you have to spend the time on the ice. Personly I like Football better but my kids don't want to play it, so they are both in Hockey and Soccer(hockey comes first). Talk to your coaches and avoid headaches later on(before TRYOUTS). Its the coaches perogative if he wants to cut your kid because of his committment level.
