Not clear what you are asking. Teams aren't starting now, they are winding down. Are you asking about next year? What city? What level (peewee maj. or minor, A, AA or AAA)? "Independent"? Meaning not in a league or not with an association?

Your location indicates Columbus, Ohio so I am going to assume that you are talking about central Ohio. Also, when you are asking about peewee I have not idea if you are asking about peewees for next season.

Even with all that said, I am only currently aware of one team playing an independent schedule out of the Central Ohio area. That team is the 95 Blue Jackets playing out of the Dublin Chiller. They are rostered under CCYHA.

The team website is: 95 Blue Jackets

Are they going independent as peewees?

Loaded question right now. I am not affiliated with that team so I can't speak to their plans for next year. An announcement is pending, however, on the creation or re-vamping of the Columbus AAA program so that it will be a joint effort by CCYHA and CTH. The theory being that the top players from the two organizations will go the the Columbus Travel Blue Jackets (or what ever they will be called) that would "field" one birth year team at each level. The AAA tryouts will come before any separate tryouts for the two organizations.

Will the players from this year's independent team move to the "Travel Blue Jackets"? I have no idea, but it could certainly shuffle things around once again.

From CCYHA's webpage:

"The boards of EYHA, CCYHA and CAHA youth hockey organizations are pleased to announce their participation in Columbus Travel Hockey for the '06-'07 season. Each association will appoint three individuals to a committee which will focus on co-coordinating travel hockey activities in the Greater Columbus area.

For the ˜06-˜07 season, the initial focus will be on the tryouts, coaching selections and evaluations for the AAA peewee, AAA bantam and AAA midget age groups only. More information will be forthcoming on who the committee members will be, the team name and when the '06-'07 tryouts for these teams will be held."

Looks like the Columbus organizations are positioned to really have some powerhouse hockey teams in the near future
