I hear the Dayton Bluehawks will play a Pee Wee AA Independant schedule next year 2006-2007 instead of the Buckeye.

If that is true it is an interesting decision. Assuming that it will be composed of significantly the players who were on the PeeWee A Buckeye team last year, I wonder what would motivate that decision. I can see a team which believes it is either overmatched in aleague or not challenged in a league playing an independant schedule, but last year the PeeWee A Bluehawks went 12-11-1 in 24 league games (then 2-2 in the Buckeye Tournament) which appeared to be just about a perfect competitive placement.

Anybody else with knowledge about PeeWee AA teams for the coming season? Can anyone confirm this Dayton going independent story?

Looking at the rosters from this past season and assuming no change in the placement grid, looks like AA teams would be Cincy (Patterson team), Indy "Gold" (Frazer team), Dayton (if they play)...

then possibly Findlay, Louisville as they would be close to 12 second years and a medium association if all their 94 year players return from this past seasons AA, A and B teams..

what about Northern Ky, Evansville, or Ft. Wayne? Number of 94 birth years look low, anyone on the forum know about these teams?

Interested to hear any feedback on what Buckeye PeeWee AA might look like this coming season...

I would assume that Findlay will play PeeWee A under the medium market option. Although they were one of the dominate teams last year in PeeWee A the Findlay 93s are a particularly strong year (they even had 6 - 93s playing out of town) and they have moved on to Bantam.

The Findlay "A" team who were 22-2 and tourney champs last season shows 7 players with '94 birth years....the Findlay "B" team was 16-3-1 and runner-ups had 6 players with '94 birth year...if all 13 returned and made the first team, even as a medium association they would have to play AA, you can only have a max of 12 second year players as a med assoc and still play A....

wonder how that team compostion will work out...and if the coaches, players, parents want to play A again after sweeping that division this past year?

On the last years PeeWee A team the 1st year players scored 14 of 118 league goals. On the PeeWee B team the 1st years scored 30 of 119 goals. Together that is 44 of 237 or 18.5%.

The PeeWee A coaches (all three are non-parents) are all moving to Bantam. The PeeWee B coaches (both are non-parents) are moving to PeeWee A.

Your observation is better taken for the 1st year Bantams. (overall they went 45-6-2 beating 2 of the 3 top AA teams in Sylvania, the #2 AA team in Indy, the AA Columbus Blue Jacket team twice, beating the AA River Rats in Fort Wayne 3 or 4 times and tying the AA Ky Norsemen) Those coaches and parents will probably want to play Bantam AA (although it is a double step for the Bantam 1st years) They will join the 2nd year Bantams (who played LCAHL last year) and play Buckeye this year. The only issue for them is whether to play as A or AA as they will not have more than 12 2nd year players. My guess is they will play AA and field either a B or A second team.

I strongly believe Findlay will limit the # of 2nd players on the PeeWee team to 12(this is complicated by the fact that last year both goalies were 1st year players). They did this last year (3 second years then changed teams - 2 went to Michigan to play and 1 moved down to play on the B team and were replaced by 2 additional 1st year players).

I know the Bantam team will be named by 7:00 p.m. tomorrow - I believe the PeeWee team will also be named. That roster may tell the tale.

News is that only 3-4 of the Pee Wee A 2005-2006 team are on the new 2006-2007 AA team. The best couple of Dayton 95's will play on this team plus the Dayton 94 that played on the AA team last year. Also hear about 8-10 of the Cincinnai 94 AAA team from last year moved out of Cinci to Dayton to fill out the team.

so if i understand you correctly, this Dayton AA team that is supposed to be going independent is comprised of:

4 '94 players from last years Pw A team
1 '94 player from last years Pw AA team
2 '95 players from last years Sq AA team
8-10 '94 players from last years Cincy AAA team?

what are the rest of the '94 kids from the Pw A team doing? will they play A again, or is there enough for 2 Dayton Pw AA teams since these Cincy kids are filling up one of the teams?
