I think perhaps someone in the Bluejackets org. is confused on the major/minor thing.

I say that because:

This year at pee wee, the Bluejackets had a '93 team (pee wee minor) that they called "major" and a predominantly '92 team that they called "minor". The all '93 was better than the mixed team.

I believe since they were the better team (and the first team picked at pee wee); they were erroneously called "major".

It sounds like they are confusing skill level with birth year.

Sorry, but CCYHA's "Squirt 95 minor" designation makes no sense and will be confusing to any association that doesn't know CCYHA's "code" for "major" and "minor", which, by the way is contrary to every other association in the U.S. and Canada.

Of course, CCYHA could refer to the first team selected as "A", the second team as "AA" and the third team as "AAA" -- that will really throw people off. Or, refer to the first Squirt team as "mites", the second team as "bantams" and the third team as "midgets" -- people will go nuts trying to figure that one out. Imagine the conversations that will start when Homer turns to Marge after viewing the Silver Stick drawings and says, "Good god woman, little Johnny's 95 team has to play some 'CCYHA AAA Midgets' team in the first round." It will give all new meaning to playing down.

Also your justification for the obvious misunderstanding and misuse of team designations would explain your shot at Cardinal. They properly want to play in a BTHL Squirt AA "minor" division (in other words, all 96 teams (note the proper use of "minor")), the problem (as I noted above) is that birth year designations are not offered by the BTHL -- it's Squirt AA or A.

"there aren't too many organizations, there are too many organizations who try to field too many travel teams."

Add CCYHA to the list of confused as well.............It's a shame since many good players have come up through that organization only to move on elsewhere.............at least they haven't changed their name 4 times in the last 4 years.

Speaking of next year, BTHL website shows Squirt AA with 7 teams, including one from Cincy. Isn't that team going to the EEAHL? And if so, is BTHL wrong, or are they saying that Cincy's second team will be their "AA" team? Also, reflects teams from Nashville and Knoxville -- OUCH. If that Cincy team is not their first 95 team, then I doubt Indy's 95s or Columbus' 95s will stick around, which means a league of Cincy's second team, maybe Indy and Columbus' second Squirt teams, Dayton, Cardinal, Nashville and Knoxville. I don't know anything about Nash or Knox, but that's the making of a solid Squirt A division. There is nothing wrong with that, but for the second year in a row the BTHL gets weaker rather than stronger -- that's too bad.

HockeyDad - You need to read the BTHL website more carefully. The Cincy and Indy teams both are listed as "Cincy-2" or "Indy-2". I read that to mean that those are the second teams out of each association.

They would actually be the 3rd. 1=squirt major, 2=squirt minor, 3=squirt AA, 4= squirtA1 5=squirt A2 etc.

That's even worse. Any idea where Indy 95s are going?
