Quit your job and relocate ? For what - the chance that your kid might make a Mid-Am camp / team ? You've got to be joking !

I thought I had seen just about everything on this board, now this. Wow !

Yes, it was a sarcastic statement. Although I've seen many players make a 4-5 hour round trip to play on AA or AAA teams.

I guess I wasn't clear, I was trying to make 3 points.
First - It seems from many of the posts on these boards that the sterotype attached to a player from a single A team is that player couldn't make a AA team and a 3 day tryout doesn't make time to break that perception with evaluators.

Second - I know of no "scouting service"
that can predicting how the Artic Blast A or Evansville A will do, especially a month prior to some teams hosting tryouts.
But if there is one, I'd like to subscribe. Again a joke.

Third - Players change in a 2 year period, Players move into an association and players leave.

In response to your three points:

First - I agree, there are A players who can play AA and AA players who can play AAA. But statistically that tends to be the exception rather than the rule.

Second - You are using WingsRule's prediction regarding BTHL Squirt AA from two years ago to suggest stereotyping. The only criticism of his/her prediction is that he/she was too kind to Evansville and the Arctic Blast. Evansville ended up 0-15-1 in Squirt AA. Arctic Blast dropped to A where they were 1-21-0. Both finished well behind the Cincy 95 and CCYHA 95 teams they were compared to. That's not a bias, stereotyping or even a prediction any more, that's the historical record.

Third - Agreed. I am certain the players on those teams have improved. But so have the players for Cincy, Columbus and all of the other teams.

In the end, if you are looking for validation from Midams, you are looking in the wrong place. Midams misses as often as it hits.

You're correct. There is no more Arctic Blast or Checkers, even last years teams had all the better players playing for the Racers in Central States. The teams that play Buckeye are 2nd,3rd or even 4th picked, so skill levels vary by birthyear as Indy has some strong years and some where the numbers aren't there.

Thanks for covering for me Vermicious Knid!!! It was TWO years ago--the 2004-2005 season I was talking about. It now looks like the same issues that were at the Squirt level two years ago has now moved up to the Pee Wee level. I guess the 1995-1994 birthyears in the mid west are doomed to have the Travel/Level of play issue all the way up to when all of the kids split up to play HS/JV/Travel!!!!

WingsRule: What is funny is that the GLHL is really just the BTHL's wayward children, who fled the nest, went to birth year teams and spread out across the midwest (EEAHL, CSDHL, Independent, etc.), only now returning home. If the BTHL had embraced the move to birth years when you made your predictions, Cincy, Indy, Cols, TPH, Cleve, Dearborn, maybe even Pittsburgh would have created two very good 94 and 95 AA/AAA, whatever you want to call them, divisions in the BTHL. Ahhhhh, the Circle of Life -- Hakuna Matata.

Many years ago the BTHL was a pretty respectable A/AA league. Organisations in that old BTHL were concerned with building strong programs.

At that same time there was a B league - the GCYHL. So several years ago the BTHL merged with the GCYHL - cause bigger is always better.

Yep, yuo guessed it. The "B" mentality has taken over the BTHL. Small, non-competive organizations are driving the BTHL down - trying to make their little organizations competitive with the larger organizations.

They've ruined the BTHL. It is a very interesting insight by Vermicious that the GLHL is basically the top teams from those larger organisations. I guess that now makes the BTHL the old GCYHL.

Will they too merge in the future, completing the cycle of life ?
