quote:I agree. 7 hours is way extreme. BUT could it be possible for both teams to meet at a neutral ice between them? I dont know if this has or could be done but it sounds like a realistic solution to me. But what do I know
I think that is a tougher issue than you think. Trying to coordinate open ice time in another city that matches openings in the schedules of the teams involved could prove problematic. Issues with who pays for the ice time, while seeming pretty straight forward on the surface, would most likely be an additional cost to the parenst involved - most association fees for travel are based on x number of home games. Anything above & beyond that could cause issues with some parents.
Nothing insurmountable for sure, but still issues to work.
quote:Originally posted by Len: The drive from Evansville to Findlay is brutal. A 7 hour drive (one way) for a regular season series of games is extreme and forming a 4-team division seems like a good compromise to me. There is a Board meeting tonight and one of the agenda items is formal approval of this split.
Note that without Findlay or Evansville in the mix this would have been a single division.
Noted: However if this is OK then why don't they look at the Pee Wee AA divison? Right now with all 8 teams the big drive is Evansville to Columbus, this is about 6 1/2 hours. Also Cinci, BC and Dayton are all 4 1/2-5 hours.
Could split in two divisons Columbus Columbus Cincinnati Butler County
Then Dayton Louisville Evansville Indy
Then the longest drive would be only 5 hours, Dayton to Evansvillein one divison. And the other divison would only have 2 hour drives????

It's a conference call. We have just a few items like this to deal with before the scheduling meeting. If there is someone that really wants to discuss a particular issue please send me an email and I'll give you the details.
There will then be another meeting at 9am just prior to the scheduling, everyone is invited to attend that.
