Since I agree that it didn't make sense to keep this under a thread titled "Congratulations" I started a new post to add some additional information that was recently posted. The following is from the BTHL meeting minutes from the May 1 meeting--still no minutes from the Annual Meeting.
quote: Laser Situation. Neil continues to work with the Toledo Storm Organization. The parent is being asked to write a letter of apology within 30 days or the player will be suspended until the letter is received by Neil. If the organization does not comply with the request for the name of the parent, the Toledo Storm Organization will not be able to participate in the league. Once the name is release, the Toledo Storm will be released from this incident. An option was that the organization can take action and suspend the player with notification to the BTHL Board. All communication will be by registered mail with validation by Neil DeFevers. BTHL Rules under IV. League Games and C. Spectators will include a statement about "use of laser pointers".
I am a little confused but it looks like there still isn't a specific identification of a responsible party although the "party to be named later" needs to write a letter of apology to somebody--the BTHL, other organization, affected player--not sure who.
This got some of us fired up last time, but it looks like the BTHL has taken steps to both address this specific situation as well as amending the rules to specifically deal with this issue on a go forward basis.

CBJ It sound like to me that BTHL does not know who the person is but feels that the association does know. By making them have this person write a letter they then will know. If the assocation does not know the person or doesn't do anything with this it sounds like BTHL will take action on the association. More then I thought would happen so far.

If it in fact turns out to be a parent that did this. A letter is not enough. Banned from all rinks 1 Year. Chicken ---- for anyone to do this but a PARENT.

The incident has been resolved and TOYHA remains in the league. A letter of explanation and apology was written to the BTHL Board. The matter is considered closed but the name has been recorded (not publicized) in the event of any future problems.
Briefly, the explanation was that the laser light was purchased by a player at a gun show being held at Hara. It was confiscated by the parent and then she pointed it on the back of one of their players during the game in celebration of a goal scored. The light was immediately spotted by an official, who then addressed the parents and warned them not to use it again. She promptly put it away and in her mind the incident was over. She denies using it in any other manner and claims she would never consider shining it in any players eyes. The explanation seemed plausable and the apology sincere.

Based upon the reported contents of the letter, I am also guessing that a lawyer just might have been consulted in making sure to admit nothing more that necessary to resolve the matter and not make any real admissions of responsibility. Just a thought.

I dont beleive so. I heard through the grapevine that the letter was written months ago. IF I was a lawyer and had read the original complaint that was filed that is where I would have questioned the whole value of the complaint to begin with. I have read it and that is why I say that.
