Not sure where in town you are located, but there are some high school club teams that pull kids from outside their district. In looking at the Hilliard team, for example, I think there were high schoolers from both Plain City and Grove City on that team.

USA Hockey in their new plan, I believe, put forward the idea of having a U15 team along with U16 and then jumping to combined at U18 for the Midgets but it doesn't look like that is getting implemented for next year.

For the club teams, there is a Central Ohio high school club hockey league--not sure what it is called. See what is close to you and look for their websites, rosters and eligibility information. There might also be contact information for the coach who you could try to contact to get clarification.

Good luck

Question for Len or other BTHL Board Members - would the Buckeye consider next year going with a Midget U16 division and a separate Midget U18 division?

YOu could possibly offer some of the JV and\or club teams the option to participate in the U16 level to increase the numbers?

any thoughts or suggestions on how to get more Midget teams in the BTHL next season??

We have always tried to have seperate Midget16 and Midget18 divisions. We need at least 4 teams to form a division and it's completely dependent the teams apply.

As a parent of players on both travel and JV teams inviting a JV team to play travel U16 would be disasterous. The are kids on the JV teams who have never played competitive hockey before. My sons PeeWee team played our JV team, who placed 2nd in the CAHA tournament, and won by 5 goals. In my opinion if you ask the JV teams to play U16 you may as well ask the PeeWee AAA, AA and league leaders in A. My opinion.

very valid point...

trying to find ways to increase interest in U16...seems many Bantams in Cincy & Indy go from Bantam to a local HS team...and the numbers in travel Midget drop, especially in the Buckeye -

for those programs or geographies that cant offer a full HS option, their kids stay travel midget, but 15 yr olds\16 yr olds sometimes arent ready to compete against 17 & 18 yr olds...

so looking for options to increase the # of midget travel teams participating in BTHL next season...

the only reason I asked about JV is simply due to the age - most JV teams are 9th 10th graders who often are 14-16 years old...

any suggestions, ideas on getting more Midget teams in BTHL so that oldest division would have enought to split between u16 and u18??

am willing to put time\energy\effort into recruting or marketing, just dont know the best or right avenues to pursue...
