On the Buckeye website it says that the Louisville Stallions will go again to Nationals, don't you have to compete to go? Are they already garuanteed a spot? If they aren't already garanteed a spot that is missleading and unfair to post eh?

With all due respect, it was neither unfair or misleading, and the wording got changed slightly from what was sent vs what was posted. Here's the background: Last year Stallions had the only Bantam AA (tier II) team in KY and did not have to compete to go to nationals, same for Stallions U16 and U18 teams (USA Hockey has changed the format for nationals. Now each state sends a team rather than having regional tournaments first and they play in divisions of 1A,2A,3A,or 4A based on number of registered players in the state. KY is 1A). When that notice was posted, it didn't appear that there would be any other Bantam AA teams in KY again this season. Now N.KY is trying to put together a team, and accordingly, the notice was immediately changed. If there is more than 1 Bantam AA team in KY, they will have to play each other to see who goes to Nationals. It was nothing more than an honest mistake. I know all of this because I'm the one who posted it, and then corrected it, not the coach or the organization. I do the Stallions website and newsletter.

That also interesting because N. Ky. sent a squirt team last year that didn't win a game in the Buckeye League. So what does that tell you.

ok, sounds fair, so how does it work for the A teams in Kentucky, do they have to play each other to make it or do they have to play the AA teams? or are they not eligible?

It may not matter what "team" you play for in Ky. Rumor has it there may be an "all star" team made up of players from lex.,louis. and nky. put together to really challenge the "powerhouses" of the east coast.

That sounds good in theory, but individual egos (parents, players and coaches) will prevent this from being a competitive team. No Ky's program gets no respect and has long been referred to as the place to play if you don't make the team you want in Cinci.
Lex puts more emphasis on it's high school program and I hear that Louisville has a very small team that is not very physical.

They should group the KY teams with the southern Ohio teams (i.e. Cinci). Then there would be no question.

As far as I know, there is only national competition for Tier II (AA) and Tier I (AAA) at this time. Of course that could always change.
