Agreed about the development, the only problem is that I hear Tier I teams will only play Tier I teams, so that would hurt the group if they chose no to play AAA. I also understand that it is hard to get AA major teams to play the AA minor teams once at the Pee Wee level, so that may also hinder opportunities.
As to the second paragraph, that is the purpose of a try-out. The kids who have the better try-outs make the team, whether a parent/observer thinks they should or not. While parent/observers have their opinions, this is always a subjective process. In the case of AAA, again, the process seemed very fair as the teams are selected by a group of evaluators, all of which have played at the highest levels, NHL down to Juniors. Throw in non-parent coaches, etc. and I think it sounds like a pretty sound process. Better than what I have seen at Capitals for some of the older age groups over the last couple of years at least.

Everything will have to be right for this group to make the jump to the AAA team, after observing the politics of the AAA 96 team. At this point the parents and kids get along and Coach Ehrie does a great job with the kids. Thus, it will kind of be up to the AAA Blue Jackets if they want the boys or not.
But, as I said, there is a great deal of hockey and developement that will be taking place prior to next April so we are going to let the chips fall where they may and make the best decision for the kids in the spring.
So, now with the season over, Coach Ehrie out of the picture for the head coach spot for the top 97 team in Columbus and the tryouts scheduled, will the team stay together or go to the AAA Blue Jackets?
