In the last five years on Travel we have played a low of 48 games and high of 61. The year the team went independent we played 52 games and only one weekend did a team dropp out of playing. I have never asked for a buch of 1-0 games the kids my love it but my heart would give out if that happened. I do not enjoy 14-0, 9-1 and half way in the 1st making offense players slow down or go play defense. That is not good. In one game a player had 4 goals in the first period. Was moved to defense and on his first shot from the point scored. He was then asked what do we have to do to stop you from scoreing the final score was something like 13-1.

The only point I have made was the one year the team did go independent there were no games like that almost all games were within 4-5 goals. 4-1, 6-2 even one that was 8-6. I know my son does not enjoy getting bet 13-1 nor deos he enjoy winning those as much either. Been on both side of those kind of games.

Nothing BHTL does can stop them and again none of this is saying a league is bad. If you fall inbetween two levels go independent.

If you win the BTHL Regular Season (you know get the 1st seed) you receive a team trophy and individual trophies for the players. If you win the BTHL End of Season Tournament, you receive a team trophy and the players get a pin...WOW.

I'd say the Regular Season with many more games than the tournament is obviously more important from a BTHL perspective. The prize for winning is more for the kids. In addition, it's a longer grind any decent team can get hot over a single weekend. The regular season is a longer proving ground. But hey just one persons perspective.

That being said do whatever you want, league or independent. No fixed answer for all, each team needs to decide what works best for them.

Did anyone see that PeeWee B Championship game?
Wow! What a thiller! Tied 1-1 after a 5 minute overtime, it went to a shootout. Checkers Goalie stopped the first 4 shots! Findlay let in 2. It was truly an amazing game! Great play by everyone.

For competitive hockey, look at last weekend's championships in the Buckeye. 5 of the 7 divisions were very exciting. (I don't have any information on the Midget 18A division)

Squirt B was an exciting game (I didn't see the very end but it was tight thoughout most of the game.

Squirt A went into overtime 1-1. Findlay won 2-1.

PeeWee B went to the shootout 1-1. Findlay lost. The shoot out was great to watch.

PeeWee A was a strange - exciting game. In the first 3 minutes it was 2-0 Findlay. Midway through the 1st it was 3-0 Findlay. With about 8 minutes left in the game it was 4-0 Findlay. The then game changed. Bloomington scored to make it 4-1. With 5 minutes left Findlay was called for a minor penalty. With 4 1/2 minutes left Findlay was called for a 5:00 minute major. Bloomington scored with the two man advantage and scored again in the next 3 minutes of the power play to make it 4-3. Findlay finished the game with its 4 captains on the ice playing 6-4 and held on to win 4-3.

At PeeWee AA the 3rd seed beat the 5th seed in the Championship. (Dayton went 1-2 in the tournament after finishing the regular season undefeated in Buckeye)

The Squirt AA final was also a very exciting game. Dayton had been a pretty untouchable most of the season going 19-0-1 with most wins coming in pretty convincing fashion. Dayton was up 1-0 after 1 period and the Columbus Flames came back to win 2-1. The last 2 minutes Dayton had their goalie pulled and was making an all out assault with quite a few shots on goal, but the puck just did not go in.

WOW!!! Great job from all teams! Looks like the league knows what they are doing as far as Championship Games are concerned. I can't wait till next year in the league.
