XL Athlete just put up a number of new and consolidated workouts available for anyone to use if they wish. The workouts require that you have signed up (free) in order to enter in your maxes and download/print a workout with your custom loads and numbers. For all of your athletes who need to prepare for the mile test coming up this fall, XL Athlete has created a four-week running program designed to get your athletes in shape and perform better on the mile test. It is also an AWESOME way to quickly get your athletes in shape, as it is a heck of a conditioning workout. The program has running for six days a week, with sprints, intervals, and distance all worked in. I think you'll like it. And as always, its on-the-house! Here is the printable sheet: Four-Week Running Program For Mile Test Hope that helps! Coach D

XL Athlete just made a hockey training quick reference guide as a means of organizing some of the most useful training links on the website. It is suggested that you keep a copy of this file on your computer’s desktop for ease of access. Here is the PDF: Hockey Training Quick Reference Guide Thanks! Coach D

XL Athlete has just created a strength testing form that you can use prior to the start of practice, when testing the strength levels of your athletes. It contains information for warming up, testing, and calculating maximums for the power clean, back squat, and bench press in a safe and effective way. The form also contains a link to the Repetition Maximum Calculator which calculates the athlete's maximum for you based upon the number of reps he completed and the weight he used. Here is the link to the testing form (pdf file): XL Athlete Strength Testing Form Just print off the number you need to test all of your athletes and you're good to go! Coach D

I just wanted to highlight one of our most popular sections of XL Athlete, now that the hockey season is upon us. We like to use the exercise bikes often during the season at the U of Minnesota, as a way to warm up, recover, and to condition on off-days or with injured athletes. We have a ton, and as always, they're all free to download and use whenever you want (pdf files): XL Athlete Bike Conditioning
