anyone got any interesting, different, fresh drills? i just found this one, thought it looked cool... kids have to dribble a tennis ball between their skates, while stickhandling a puck.

We just put up a Goaltender Hand-Eye Coordination Drill involving tennis balls, ladders, and other implements, courtesy of the University of Minnesota:

dave - just realized you'd posted this, sorry man! i checked out your goalie drills, they look great, i'll have to give your printout to my goalies.

also, i just came across this site and thought you might like it. they're offering a free 4-part video series on hockey systems, plus... you get a free "mini drillbook" if you refer your friends. the videos are great, and the drill book is pretty good too - definitely worth getting.

My coach, back when I was playing Midget Hockey, had this drill to help us all move and rotate into position on a power play or penalty kill. Basically, tied long ropes to each player, and when one moved, it tugged the others to move into place. Kind of got us thinking of keeping the separation and moving around. If the ropes touched ice, push-ups or laps. Before long we started anticipating and moving better as a unit. This worked best I think, on the penalty kill and keeping in a box formation. Of course, in real game situations, there are times to leave the box, but it helped get the basic formation down.
