| My coach, back when I was playing Midget Hockey, had this drill to help us all move and rotate into position on a power play or penalty kill. Basically, tied long ropes to each player, and when one moved, it tugged the others to move into place. Kind of got us thinking of keeping the separation and moving around. If the ropes touched ice, push-ups or laps. Before long we started anticipating and moving better as a unit. This worked best I think, on the penalty kill and keeping in a box formation. Of course, in real game situations, there are times to leave the box, but it helped get the basic formation down. | | | | Posts: 8 | Location: Winnipeg, MB | Registered: September 10, 2009 |
