I coach a termite team (4-6 yr olds). One of the bigger 6 year olds spends his entire time on the ice looking to trip and push down the 4 year olds. The smaller the kid the more this 6 year old hunts them down. We've talked to him, sternly warned him, gave him 2, 5 and 10 min "penalties" all to no avail. His parents tell us to "do what's best." We're starting to get 4 year olds who don't want to go on the ice with him. Ideas please!!!

The parents need to get involved and help provide some ideas on what will work with their child. They know him/her best.
Try taking the player aside before you get on the ice and remind him/her of the rules and consequences. check for understanding and follow through.
In my experience, if the parents allow the child to get away with this type of behavior at home there is no way you are going to be able to control it on the ice. It needs to be a joint effort by the parents and coaching staff to be successful.
If nothing works, then the best thing to do is to not allow him to play. This is a safety issue and needs to be handled as such.
One last thought, if the child has any learning disabilities (ADHD, Autism spectrum disorder etc..), Then you may need to try some other approaches. ex:social stories. It takes time & patience, but it has been proven to work.
Good Luck!

Great reply JW! We have had to deal withthis in ourHouse association.. Best to do exactly what JW said... Also make note to discuss with parents about the learning disiabilities...
I find it very important that youth coaches need to understand AD, ADHD and other disabilities the meds are not working after school.
These are far from revolutionary laptops, offering similar specifications as others in its class at a price you would expect. With the option of up to 8GB of DDR3 RAM, netbook and HDD or SSD drives. You can also expect a standard range of connectivity including USB 3.0, HDMI, VGA and LAN. As for pricing, the smaller Alt-15 with a 15” display starts at around $1049 whereas the slightly larger Alt-17 with a 17” display comes in at just $50 dollars more but of course offers more options when it comes to the customisation.

Netbook computers are much lighter and close to half the size of a normal laptop computer. The size and weight of a netbook makes them quite popular because they offer people an easy way to access the internet. HP EliteBook 8440w Notebook Intel Core i5 560M(2.66GHz) 14" 4GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi NVIDIA Quadro FX 380Mare also considerably cheaper than a laptop computer, with prices starting around $200 USD, so they are easily affordable, even for individuals who are on a tighter budget. Another great feature about a netbook is the fact that their batteries can last up to 8 hours, unlike ordinary laptop batteries that run out of juice in about 4 hours.
When it comes to the operating system on a netbook, it is recommended to give Linux OS a try. Some netbooks come with Windows Vista or Windows 7, but it causes the HP ProBook 6450b Notebook Intel Core i3 370M(2.40GHz) 14" 2GB Memory DDR3 1333 320GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphicsto run much slower. No matter what kind of operating system you decide to go with, a netbook runs word processing programs such as Microsoft Word or Open Office quite well. Additional programs can be added to a netbook via the USB port. Netbooks are too small to feature a CD/DVD-ROM drive.
Before you go out and buy a mini laptop, there are a few things that you need to consider. An extremely important factor to consider is whether or not you truly want a mini notebook or a full-fledged laptop. If your main concern is accessing the internet, word processing or having a lightweight device to carry with you on business trips, a HP ProBook 4520s Notebook Intel Core i3 380M(2.53GHz) 15.6" 2GB Memory DDR3 1066 320GB HDD 7200rpm DVD Super Multi Intel HD Graphicsis the ideal choice. However, if you want to edit videos, play games or use other applications, you should consider a laptop computer instead. You will also need to consider what screen size you'd like. All net books come with small LCD screens ranging from 8.9-inches to 10-inches.
